Abstract
774,343. Building motions for spinning machines. BREMATEX. June 17, 1955 [June 29, 1954], No. 17614/55. Class 120 (2). A spinning machine building motion of the kind having a driving chain wound on a chain drum on a cam-reciprocated carriage is provided with a shaft that receives intermittent rotation from a pawl and ratchet device and capable of being coupled at will with means for operating a variable ratio transmission device to vary the amplitude of carriage reciprocation. A carriage 2 is mounted to slide under the influence of a cam 12 operating on an arm 14 against which bears a roller 16 carried on a nut 18 mounted on a screw 19. The reciprocations of the carriage 2 are transmitted to the ring rail through a chain 6 attached at one end to a drum coupled with a worm-wheel 20 that receives a partial rotation at each reciprocation of the carriage 2 through a ratchet wheel 22 operated upon by a pawl. The other end of the chain 6 is fastened to a drum 7 with which is coupled a cam, round a part of the periphery of which is wrapped a second chain attached at its other end to a ring rail control bar extending for the full length of the machine. Manual adjustment of the screw 19 results in changes in the length of traverse of the ring rail. When it is desired continuously to increase or decrease the traverse, the screw 19 is intermittently rotated by the ratchet wheel 22 through a feathered sleeve 29 which may be coupled with either of two bevel wheels 30, 31. In order to produce parallel cylindrical yarn layers, the worm-wheel is disconnected from the chain drum.
