Abstract
712,496. Building motions for ring spinning frames. SCRAGG & SONS, Ltd., E.. and DAVENPORT, A. Sept. 23, 1952 [Sept. 28, 1951], No. 22644/51. Class 120(2) A ring spinning machine in which the ring rail is traversed on vertical sliding .supports by cam-operated bell-crank levers has the cam arranged to rock a driving arm and traverse the levers through a link pivoted on the arm and adapted to be displaced relatively to the arm so that the movement imparted to the bell-crank levers may be varied to vary the traverse. The driving arm 21 depends from a pivot 21a on a fixed bracket 23 that carries a shaft 32 on which are mounted the regulator cam 33 and a 'ratchet wheel 31 rotated by a pawl 30 carried by the arm 21 which is in turn driven by a cam 24 from a shaft 29 through a worm 28 and wheel 27. When cylindrical packages are required, the cam 33 is removed and the arm 21 and link 20 pivoted to it at 22 operate as one lever. With the cam 33 operating against a roller 34 on the top end of the link 20 and with the link 20 free to rock about pivot 22, packages tapered at both ends are produced. In order to produce packages tapered at one end only a detachable stop 35 is provided on the link 20 so that the link 20 moves as one with the arm 21 when the ring rail is at one end of its stroke. Coupling 19, rod 17, counterbalanced bell-crank 13 and vertical support 8 connect the link 20 with the ring rail 7. Specification 575/10, [Class 120(ii)], is referred to.
