Abstract
794,918. Knitting-machines. F.N.F, MACHINERY MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. June 11, 1956 [June 21, 1955], No. 17962/55. Class 74 (2). The warp yarns pass round a movable roller 6 in their passage from the warp beam to the tension-bar 8 of a warp machine, the roller being positively moved to increase or decrease the length of the path of the yarns in the event of undue decrease or increase in the tension of the yarns. The roller 6 is carried by a quadrant 12, 12a at each end, one of which is geared to the drive from an electric motor and both of which are mounted on a shaft 4 serving as a roller around which the yarns pass to the roller 6. The yarns further pass over a roller 7 to the tensionbar 8 mounted on spring cantilever arms 14 attached to a shaft 15. A toothed quadrant 16 is attached to shaft 15 and engages a pinion 17 to which is attached a finger 18. Normally slight fluctuations in tension of the yarns are accommodated by the arms 14 but undue increase or decrease in tension causes the bar 8 to rotate the shaft 15 against or under the action of a coil-spring 21 influencing shaft 15 through lever 19. Consequently quadrant 16 is rotated and also pinion 17 causing finger 18 to engage one or other switches 24, 31 controlling the electric motor which then rotates shaft 4 and quadrants 12, 12a in the appropriate direction whereby roller 6 is moved to increase or decrease the path of the yarns. On resumption of normal tension the finger 18 is returned to its central position.
