Abstract

1481995 Knitting machines; looms; warping machines H HEPFER 12 Sept 1974 39736/74 Headings D1C, D1E and D1M A yarn guide adapted for tensioning yarn being fed to a knitting, winding or warping machine or the weft yarn in a loom comprises input and output guide eyelets 11, 12, one or more pairs of spring-loaded tensioning discs 19, 20 and spring-loaded pivotal tension compensator arms 14, 24 mounted between the respective eyelets 11, 12 and the tensioning discs, the compensator arms serving to smooth out fluctuations in yarn tension. The running yarn T passing between each pair of discs 19, 20 engages a rotatable sleeve 21a on a support post 21. The springs 23 biassing the discs 20 bear against adjustable seats for adjustment of the tension level in the yarn. A sleeved guide post 26 is provided. The compensator arms 14, 24 are biassed by springs 17 away from the line of the yarn T to take up slack and the arm 24 may trip an electric stop motion in the event of yarn failure.
