Class 51(ii) A furnace of the kind wherein a rotary annular hearth forms the floor of an annular heating chamber has at the top of the chamber a baffle 34 situated between a burner nozzle 36 and a discharging and charging opening 38, the flame from the nozzle passing around the chamber to an outlet 37, at the other side of the baffle, leading to a central flue. The hearth is rotated in the reverse direction to that of the flame path and the baffle is spaced above the hearth so as to provide head room for articles on the hearth.
