692,485. Reversing-gearing. KING, Ltd., G.W. May 17, 1951 [May 18, 1950],No. 12469/50. Class 80 (ii). A reversing gear for driving a concentric shaft 11 in opposite direction from a shaft 10 comprises a bevel gear 12 secured to shaft 10 and driving a bevel 14 freely rotatable on shaft 11 in the opposite direction through an idler 13. A double clutch member 15 rotating with the driven shaft 11 carries, friction facings 19, 20 adapted to engage respectively with the bevels 12, 14 on a sliding movement to the left or right by means of an actuating lever 21 and shifting fork 23 to give a forward or reverse drive of the shaft 11. The gear is particularly applicable to hoists.
