Abstract

691,899. Pipe couplings. HANSEN MANUFACTURING CO. Nov. 27, 1951 [Jan. 3, 1951], No. 27777/51. Class 99 (i). In a coupling, particularly for service pipe lines having connecting points arranged in a wall 10, a flexible annular gasket 17 is held between the end of a valve housing 12 and a coupling socket member 19, a disc valve 22 being seated on the gasket by a spring 23. A valve stem 20 extends rearwardly from the disc through a passage 14 having at its end a seat 15 for a second valve member 21 mounted on the end of the stem so that the valve 21 is seated by the spring should the gasket be removed for replacement, &c. The spigot member 26 opens the valve by the projection 24 and seats on the gasket, being secured by balls 27 engaging recesses 28 under the control of spring-loaded sleeve 30.
