Abstract

691,710. Discharge lamps. MULLARD RADIO VALVE CO., Ltd. June 15, 1951, No. 14199/51. Class 39(i). A gas discharge flash tube has a striking electrode disposed along and close to the envelope, and contained in a tube of heat-resistant transparent insulating material. The embodiment shown has a helical lamp 1, the striking electrode 2 also being in the form of a helix, enclosed in a glass tube 3. The helical assembly 2, 3 may conveniently be screwed on to the envelope 1 during assembly. An auxiliary incandescent lamp is provided inside the helix 1, and the whole is enclosed by a glass envelope 13.
