545,747. Discharge lamps. HANOVIA, Ltd. April 18, 1941, No. 5064. Convention date, May 18, 1940. [Class 39 (i)] In an ultra-violet discharge lamp having a filling of inert gas and metal vapour such as mercury, the latter is at a pressure of at least 0.5 atmospheres ; at least one electrode is activated, the minimum arc length is 50 cm. and the internal diameter of the quartz envelope is at least 17 mm. The power input is above 20 watts per cm. of arc length and curves are given showing the relation between arc length and tube diameter for given power inputs.
