Abstract
691,156. Cathode-ray tubes. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. May 28,1951 [Oct. 1, 1948], No. 12509/51. Class 39(i). In a magnetic lens, an axially adjustable magnetic element is concentrically arranged between the inner pole piece and a surrounding cylindrical permanent magnet. A lower pole piece 6, together with the magnetic member 17 with which it may be integral, is secured to the base plate 7 of a cylindrical magnet and the pole piece 5 is secured through stirrups to the cover 2. The member 8 is axially adjustable against springs 14, 15 by the rod 16 and has guiding projections 9, 10 sliding in slots in a collar on the cover 2. The lens is short-circuited when the faces 18, 19 are in contact. In another form, the elements 22, 24, Fig. 2b, are screwed on to the pole pieces 21, 23, and they are rotated to adjust the gap therebetween by pins 28 which engage in slots therein and are secured to a frame 29 adjustable against springs by a rod extending through the tube wall. The arrangement may be applied to electron microscopes.
