Abstract

Cyclic oximes are produced by the reduction of cyclic nitroparaffins with soluble sulphides such as neutral or acid sulphides of alkalies and alkaline earth metals and ammonia, and polysulphides, preferably in solution in an alcohol solvent, or water, at room or raised temperatures, and under non-oxidizing conditions and increased pressure. In examples, nitrocyclohexane is reduced to the corresponding oxime by sodium hydrosulphide, ammonium polysulphide, and the introduction of ammonia and hydrogen sulphide in alcoholic solvents.
