Abstract
Pigments are treated to render them readily soluble in organic vehicles by adding to an aqueous slurry of the pigment a compound of the type RNR1R11COOY where R is an alkyl group containing from 8 to 20 carbon atoms or a substituted alkyl group containing amine or polyamine groups, R1 is H or an alkyl group, R11 is a straight or branched chain with from 1 to 6 carbon atoms and Y is H, a metal, or an alcoholic residue or acyl group, and thereafter removing the solid and drying. Examples are given of adding N-coco-betaaminobutyric acid to Prussion blue (1) after precipitation and washing and (2) after precipitation but before washing.
