Abstract

Easily dispersible pigments having high resistance towards flocculation are produced by bringing the pigment in the presence of water into contact with from 8 to 25% of a long chain aliphatic amine present wholly or partly as the free base, and thereafter drying the pigment. The amine may be R1.NH2 where R1 has 8 to 24 carbon atoms, or R1.NH.R2 where R2 is C1 to C4 alkylene; it may be added as such or as a salt from which it is subsequently liberated by alkali. Alkyldipolyethyleneoxydiamine wetting agents may also be added. In examples, azo-pigments and phthalocyanines are treated.
