Class 5(i) The lid 5 of a bread slicer, hinged at 7, is swung up by its handle 10 to allow a loaf to be placed in the feed shoot 3 where, on lowering the lid, the loaf is pressed through a set of reciprocable knives, the pressing being done by a series of spaced plates 9 depending from a plate 8 secured to the underside of the lid. The lower edges of the plates 9 are arcuate and serrated.
