Class 28(2) An onion &c., placed on a board is chopped by decending trapezoidal blades 19a &c., mounted on a crossbar 18 connected to press down knob 15. The crossbar 18 can side in longitudinal slots 21a in a sleeve 21 fixed on a stripper plate 20 to prevent twisting of the blades. The blades 19a slide in slots 20a in a stripper plate 20 sliding in a cylinder 12 and stopped on the upward stroke by a shoulder 12a thereby stripping the chopped material. The blades 19a are inclined to each other, their divergence facilitating the freeing of the chopped pieces. The blades 19a &c., can be rotated within the housing to make successive cuts at different angles. In a modification the blades are mounted at their top ends and spaced on a threaded cross shaft connected to the operating knob.
