689.625. Lamp brackets. BAGLOW, D. V. Feb. 28, 1951 [Nov. 28. 1949; Nov. 28, 1949]. Nos. 30467/49 and 30468/49. Classes 52(iii) and 52(v) An adjustable support for lamps comprises levers 19, 20 pivotally connected by a pin 28, the lower lever 19 being pivotally mounted on a pin 17 suspended between lugs 16 on the rotatably mounted casing of a standard within which is 'a compression spring 29 so coupled to the levers that it exerts a tension on each of the levers. A link 30 is pivotally mounted at the end of the lever 20 on a pin 32 and is connected to the lower end of the lever 19 by a link 33 of a length equal to the distance between the pins 32 and 28 and pivotally mounted on the pin 17. The counterbalancing spring 29 is suspended by a pair of co-operating stirrups 36, 37 the ends of which are turned over to engage the ends of the spring. The stirrup 36 is connected by a bolt to the base of the standard thus anchoring the upper end of the spring. The free end of the spring is connected through the stirrup 37 to the link 30 so any movement of the link 30 caused by movement of eithed lever is transmitted to the spring. A piece of cork 41 held between the stirrup gives additional resistance to pivotal movement of the levers.
