In a door closer in which the seating for the spring 39 is preferably the piston 33 of the damping means, the seating is connected to the pivot pin 12 to which the operating arm 14, 15 is connected by means of a linkage consisting of a primary link 29 pivotally connected to the spring seating at 47, and pivotally connected at 28 to a connecting rod 27 coupled to the pivot pin, the connecting rod also being pivotally connected at 30 to a secondary link 31 pivoted at 32 to the housing 10.
