Abstract

342,973. Door springs and checks. NEWMAN & SONS, Ltd., W. and NEWMAN, H. G., 268, Hospital Street, Birming- ham. May 15, 1930, No. 14934. [Class 65 (i).] In a combined floor spring and check for swinging doors, an arm carried by the door pivot is connected to a lever pivoted to the case of the apparatus, and the operating spring is directly connected to, or engages with, the lever ; the check device is also directly connected to the lever. In the Figure, in which the door is fully open, a double-armed lever, pivoted at 4, is used, and the fluid check 13, of ordinary type, is directly connected to one arm 2, while the adjustable compression spring 9 engages with the other arm 3. The end of the arm 2 is connected by a link 11 to the arm 12, which is fixed to the door pivot 19. A stop 12<a> on the arm 12 engages with the side of the case as shown.
