Abstract

Sashes balanced by springs ; sliding vehiclewindow opening and closing apparatus. - A balancing device for a sliding sash of the kind comprising a spring-controlled lever and roller engaging the sash is characterized by a cam formed on the lever between its pivot and sashengaging roller for varying the leverage due to the spring so that a constant lifting force is exerted on the window. The spring R bears on a recess T of one pair of arms of bell-crank levers G mounted side by side on the fixed pivot H. The second pair of arms of the bell cranks carry a grooved roller L bearing on a cam track M of the window supporting lever C which is so shaped that a constant lifting force is maintained thereby on the sash. The spring is mounted on a rod O pivoted at P on the U-shaped bracket A and the tension is adjusted by the nut Q. The cam track ends in curved stop N. One balancing device may be provided on each side of the window and any suitable actuating device such as a cranked extension of the pivot D may be combined therewith.
