Abstract

619,370. Stands and brackets for lamps. LAWES BROS., Ltd., and LAWES, F. G. R. Dec. 5, 1946, No. 35989. [Classes 52 (iii) and 52 (v)] An equipose stand for a lamp comprises a parallel linkage provided with a counterweight, the linkage being rotatable about an axis provided on one of the links. The pedestal 1 has mounted thereon a stem 2 provided with a pivot 3 for a parallel linkage 4, 5, 9, 10, pivoted together at 3, 7, 8, 11 a prolongation of the link 9 carrying the device, such as a lamp 12, to be equipoised and a prolongation of the link 10 carrying a counterbalance weight 14. The links 4, 9 10 may be of channel form while the link 5 may comprise plates connected rigidly together by a pin 6. Friction means may be introduced at the pivot spindle 3 by mounting thereon a spring bearing against the link 5 and adjusted by a screwed knob. The device may be in the form of a bracket and the stem 2 may be mounted at any angle, friction retaining means being introduced if the stem is other than upright.
