Abstract
629,790. R÷ntgenray apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and CALDWELL, J. T. Dec. 1, 1947, No. 31705. [Class 98 (i)] [Also in Group XXIV] Mechanism for supporting an X-ray tube, whereby the focal point of the tube will substantially coincide with a point fixed with respect to the base within the limit of adjustment of the tube, comprises a member 10 carrying the tube (not shown) and supported at 9, 15 by two link members 6, 12 pivoted at 7, 13 to link members 5, 11 respectively, the other ends of links 5, 11 being pivoted at 8, 14 to a supporting casting 1, and links 6, 11 being pivoted together at 16. Member 10 may be locked with respect to the casting by a screw 21 acting in a slot 19 in an extension 20 of link 12. In whatever position links 5, 11, 6, 12 are placed, pivot points 7, 8, 14, 16 and 9, 15, 13, 16 will always lie on the corners of two parallelograms, and lines passing through points 8, 14 and 15, 9 will always meet in a substantially fixed point 17, i.e. the focal point of the X-ray tube. The casting 1 is rotatable with a shaft 2 supported by a tube stand of known type (not shown).
