Abstract

1438854 Adjustable stretcher BINZ & CO 19 July 1973 [27 July 1972] 34486/73 Heading A4J [Also in Division B7] A stretcher for a vehicle comprises a body support platform mounted on vertically pivotable members 11a, 12a which are pivoted at 17, 18 to fixed supports 15, 16, the platform having at one end a pivotally mounted loading plate (33), Fig. I (not shown) which is movable through substantially 180 degrees from a stowed-position overlying the platform to an extended in use position. The platform is mounted on member 11a, by a vertical pin 21 so as to be slewable about a vertical axis y as well as being pivotable about the axis x defined by hinges 17, 18. Movement about axis y may be controlled by a detent segment 23. The loading plate may be provided with means for locking it in the stowed or extended positions or at right angles to the plane of the platform Fig. 1, (not shown). In use the stretcher is supported at the edge remote from supports 15, 16 by a parallelogram linkage including legs 26, or by an extensible piston cylinder arrangement Fig. 6 (not shown) between the support and platform. Supports 15, 16 may be situated adjacent or form part of a vehicle body wall.
