Abstract

1416697 Stretchers; equipment stands BAXTER LABORATORIES INC 28 Nov 1972 [1 Dec 1971] 54873/72 Headings A5R and A5X [Also in Divisions A4, B7 and B8] In a stretcher having a wheeled base 11 supporting a patient platform 12 the platform is movable between raised and lowered positions and includes front, middle and rear sections 14, 13 and 15, the front section mounting a heart lung resuscitator R and the middle section mounting a longitudinally movable carriage 27, 28 carrying electronic life maintenance equipment 25. The base is pivotally connected by arms 16, 17 to the baseframe 13US, 13LS, 13V, 13B which constitutes the middle section, these arms controlling the raising and lowering of the platform. A toggle mechanism (Fig. 11, not shown) connected between the base and a frame member 13B allows the platform to be locked in the raised position. The movable equipment carriage includes U-frames 27, 28 which are mounted on rails 30 slidably inserted in carriers (31) (Fig. 10, not shown) connected to frame members 13US. The carriage is movable from within the middle section to an in use position beneath the rear section 15 wherein the equipment 25 may be brought into its operative position, Fig. 5, the carriage may be locked in position by a detent pin arrangement (Fig. 13, not shown). The front section 14 is releasably and telescopically mounted in arms 20 pivoted to members 13US at 14B, and carries a heart resuscitator R and gas bottles 21. Arms 20 are also pivoted by links 19b to a U- frame 19 which telescopically engages the members 13US. Movement of the frame 19 causes tilting of the front section from its horizontal locking means (Figs. 9, 13, not shown) operative between the frame 19 and members 13US allow the front section inclination to be fixed. The rear section 15 is pivotally connected to the members 13US and by links 41 to the verticals 13V, this arrangement allowing the section to be moved from the horizontal to an over centre stowed position, Fig. 3 and 2. The middle section is also provided with a laterally slidable storage drawer 35, which includes an inclined bottle storing section, and a permanently open ended storage space defined by walls 37.
