Abstract

615,699. Stands. FRANKLIN, A. P. Aug. 7, 1946, No. 23425. [Class 52 (iii)] [Also in Group XX] A binocular viewing device especially for stereoscopy and a support therefor includes an arm pivoted at one end to a vertical rod slidable in a stand and supporting at the other end the viewing device, and means whereby the viewing device is capable of universal adjustment. As shown, the viewing device comprises object lens carriers 8, 8 and adjustable eye lens carriers 9, 9. One carrier 8 is mounted in a stirrup 10, which is pivoted at 10a to a guide tube 12 for a rod 11 which is integral with a lug 14b on the stirrup 10b in which the other carrier 8 is pivoted at 10c; pivotal movement about 10c may be effected by rotation of a screw, which passes through a projection from lug 14b and is screw-connected with an angle member on the lens carrier. Integral with tube 12 is another tube 14 in which slides a rod 14a also connected with lug 14b ; also integral with tube 12 is block 18 in which an arm 7 may move and be clamped in its adjusted position by a nut on a bolt 17. The arm 7 is hinged at 6 to a rod 2 which is rotatable about the axis of a stand 1, is slidable vertically therein and may be clamped by a lock nut 3 and clamping member 4.
