Abstract

Draughting-machines.- Relates to machines of the parallel-motion type, as described in Specification 9056/15 and consists in an arrangement of counterpoise springs to facilitate the use of the instrument on a vertical or sloping surface. The suspension links a, a<1>, pivoted to the anchorage c<1> and to the coupling-ring d are counter. poised by one or more tension springs g connected at one end to the ring d and at the other end to a movable anchorage h mounted on a guide rail i which is curved to a radius approximately equal to that of the path of the centre of the ring d. The rail is supported from the anchor bracket c, preferably just in front of the fulcra of the links a, a'. The scale-carrying links b, b' are counterpoised by a tension spring or springs j connected at one end to an arm k secured to the ring d, and at the other end to the housing e carrying the scale-and-protractor unit f. To adjust the control of the spring j according to the slope of the drawing-board &c., the arm k may be made of considerable length and provided with a number of grooves k<1>, into any one of which a loop j<1> at the end of the spring may be placed.
