Abstract

688,892. Reservoir pens. COMPANIA URUGUAYA DE FOMENTO INDUSTRIAL SOC. ANON. Dec. 15, 1947. [May 30, 1946] No. 16425/46. Class 146 (iii). In a ball-point pen, an ink reservoir is provided containing fibrous or porous material 7 extending within the reservoir 6 from the end with which the feed. duct 4<SP>1</SP> to the ball 2 communicates, the voids of the material being filled with a viscous ink which does not leak from the body of the material but which can be withdrawn through the duct 4<SP>1</SP> in the act of writing. As shown, the. writing extremity 1 is attached to an adaptor 5 connected to one end of a tubular reservoir 6. The other end of the reservoir may be open, or closed by a plug 9. An air vent may be provided by a hole 10 in the reservoir or by small bore ducts in the plug which also prevent ink seepage. The material 7 is placed in the reservoir and charged with ink through the adaptor up to the line 8. A filter 11 serves the dual purpose of preventing material 7 entering the ducts 4, 4<SP>1</SP> in the adaptor and of intercepting air or vapour bubbles which might cause an air-lock. The device may be mounted in an outer casing by means of the screw-thread 12. A suitable ink is described in Specification 621,847. Specifications 571,698, 573,747, 629,226, 650,754 and 688,891 also are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification, 615,548.
