Abstract
669,464. Reservoir pens. COMPANIA URUGUAYA DE FOMENTO INDUSTRIAL SOC. ANON. May 24, 1948 [March 26, 1947], No. 8205/47. Class 146 (iii). In a ball-point pen, the writing extremity 1 is encircled by a resilient member i.e. a rubber sleeve 9, interposed between it and the casing to provide a resilient restraint to lateral displacement of the extremity 1. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, the extremity is a push fit in the sleeve 9 which may be bonded either to the extremity or to the casing or both. In another form, the extremity is screwed into the casing and has an annular groove in its cylindrical surface which together with the sleeve permits the extremity to flex laterally. In Fig. 1, the casing comprises an adaptor 5 secured to a capillary reservoir 10. The parts 1, 5, 10 are held in position in a two-part barrel 11, 12, between two resilient washers 16, 17 so that the instrument has resilience in the axial direction as well as laterally. Air vents 20, 21 are provided in the barrel and reservoir respectively. The ball socket may be formed as described in Specifications 564,172 and 609,817 and the ink employed may be as described in Specifications 621,847, 629,226, 652,359. Specification 573,747 also is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 630,609.
