Abstract
688,770. Hand staplers. KATZ, P. April 11, 1951 [April 13, 1950], No. 9164/50. Class 89 (iii). In a hand stapler including a magazine 12, a manually slidable plate 30 having a downturned end 34 is provided whereby the strip of staples 10 can be retracted to remove the leading staple from the driver passage 20 so that the driver 48 can be housed in the passage when the stapler is not in use. A driver arm 44 having a downturned end forming the driver 48 and an anvil arm 38 are pivoted to the magazine 12 and are spaced from the upper and lower faces thereof by springs 54, 43. In the construction shown, the arms 38, 44 are pivoted to one another by circular projections 40 on the one engaging corresponding recesses in the other. The magazine 12 is mounted in a tubular housing 58 and the driver and staple arms 44, 38 are covered by a cap when they are closed together. The staples are fed by a pusher 24 controlled by a spring 26 housed within the magazine.
