Abstract

690,310. Stapling machines. SPEED PRODUCTS CO., Inc. June 29, 1951, No. 15526/51. Class 89 (iii). In a hand stapling device comprising a base BS having a magazine M pivoted thereto by a pin 13, the driver blade B is fixed to a cap MC carried by a leaf spring CL which is anchored at its rear end to a pivoted cover C for the magazine. The spring CL is secured to the cover C by detents thereon engaging notches in the rear end of the spring and rests on inturned flanges 55 which act as a fulcrum. Upward movement of the driver blade B relatively to the cover C is limited by a stop ST mounted between the side walls 17 of the cover and engaging an opening 30 in the blade. Upward movement of the magazine due to a spring 60 is limited by detents 70 on a bracket BT mounted on the base BS and engaging over walls 71 of the magazine. The staple pusher FR is controlled by a spring 18 looped round a pin P and anchored at 19 on the spring CL. The pin P is mounted in enlarged openings in the walls 17 and co-operates with slots in magazine walls to hold the cover C to the magazine.
