Abstract

1288604 Staplers MAX CORP 18 Dec 1969 [26 Dec 1968] 61788/69 Heading B4C A stapler comprises a base 2, and a magazine 1, pivotally mounted on a pin 6 carried by projections 5 integral with an upper cover member 4, and a lower cover member 7 which is connected to the upper member 4 by a hinge 8. A holder 21 for spare staples is located in the upper member 4 and includes a hinged closure member 24. The intermediate portion 9 of a resilient member is held between the holder 21 and projections 28, 28<SP>1</SP> on the side walls of the upper member, projections 23, 23<SP>1</SP> on the holder engaging in recesses 12, 12<SP>1</SP> of the portion 9 when the holder is pushed into the illustrated position. The staples in the magazine are urged towards a staple driving part 10 of the resilient member by a pusher 16 biased by spring 20 mounted slidably on a resilient rod 18. A spring 3 urges the magazine and the base apart. The end 11 of the resilient member engages the magazine and acts as a spring. The upper and lower cover members and the resilient rod 18 are made of plastics material for example polypropylene. When the stapler is to be used the lower cover member 7 is pivoted to the broken line position of Fig. 2, and pressure exerted on the upper cover member effects via the part 10 driving of a staple through material being stapled and against anvil 2A.
