Abstract

1468864 Staplers SIGNODE CORP 14 Aug 1974 [15 Aug 1973] 35787/74 Heading B4C A stapler has a magazine 30 pivotally mounted on the handle portion thereof by a cam pivot arrangement 38 and held by a latching means 40 at its front end such that sideways pressure exerted on the magazine by the attempted insertion of a deformed staple causes rearward and downward movement of the magazine to a release position as the force of the latch 40 is overcome. The cam pivot 38 has two pivot pins 70, 72 which normally are located in a straight portion of slot 74 (as shown). Rearward movement of the magazine by said pressure allows pin 70 to move into a widened portion of the slot and hence allows rotation. The latch means 40 engages pins 42 at the other end of the magazine and is spring urged to a retaining position.
