701,762. Stapling. OBSTFELD, L., and OBSTFELD, A. Dec. 6, 1951 [Dec. 23, 1950], No. 28647/51. Class 89(3) [Also in Group XXV] In a bench stapler for use with staples having concave crowns 24 and vertical and inclined legs 26, 28, the staple core 33 is of corresponding section with a concave upper surface while the staple pusher 42 has a straight front edge 44. The pusher may be held to the core 36 by inturned flanges 46 or by a spring tongue on its upper surface engaging an outer wall 38 of the magazine. At the front end of the outer wall 38, a wear plate 54 having a slot 50 corresponding to the staples 50 is rockably arranged. The slot 60 prevents the passage of the pusher 42. The wear plate may be controlled by a spring 68 to provide a yieldable driver passage 62.
