Abstract

577,079. Stapling-machines. GOODMAN, L. L., and VANDERVIEREN, F. A. J. Jan. 28, 1944, No. 1628. [Class 89 (iii)] A staple driving machine is provided with a spring guide plate co-operating with a flanged block to guide the staples and prevent them becoming buckled during driving. The guide block a is held by means of a pin b at the front of the magazine d. The spring guide plate consists of a horizontal portion d' which lies between the horizontal flanges a' of the guide block, and a vertical concave portion which lies between vertical flanges a<1>. When the staple is driven, each leg is guided between a lateral edge of the part d<1> and a flange a<1>, its bridge being guided and supported by the face of the plate, which yields to allow it to pass.
