Abstract
372,012. Stapling tools. POLZER, F., 12, Franklin Street, South Norwalk, Connecticut, U.S.A. March 3, 1931, No. 6560. Convention date, Oct. 4, 1930: [Class 89 (iii).] In a stapling tool of the kind comprising means for preventing a second staple from entering the driver passage until the staple already in the passage has been completely driven, the means consists of a lever 29 pivoted at 30 and adapted to lie across the passage 17. Fig. 2 shows the normal position of the lever 29, with a staple 39 in the passage supported by the limb 37 of the lever. The driver 24 is slotted to clear the lever. When the driver descends, the cross-bar of the staple 39 forces the limb 37 outwardly, so that the nose 36 of the lever engages the second staple, and pushes the staple strip 20 rearwardly. The lever 29 is held in this position by the cross-bar until the staple has teen completely driven from the passage 17. The lever 29 is pivoted to a block 32 screwed to the plunger guide 16 of the tool.
