[Also in Group XIII] In a cold storage chamber, the insulating walls are built of fabricated blocks 30, 31 each comprising a mass 12 of insulating material, e.g. of corrugated and plane paper sheets impregnated as described in Specification 550,562, [Group XIII], or of porous material, disposed within a framework 26, 27 and asphalt-coated casing of plates or strips 18, 29, e.g. of sheet metal, fibre board or plywood, on the faces and edges of the insulation 12. Moreover, one or more passages such as those formed by the corrugated sheets nearest the chamber interior are arranged in the individual blocks and in the insulated floor or roof extending under the whole inner face thereof and intercommunicating by means of a distributing air channel 82 or 90. The floor and/or roof insulation may comprise blocks similar to the wall blocks. In the case of porous insulation a lattice-work is arranged between the insulation and the inner plate 18 of the casing to form a passage system for the air. Adjacent blocks are joined at their sides by a projection 34, Fig. 3, on one fitting into a recess 32 on the other and compressing a layer 40 of asphalt or asphalt impregnated cloth. A metal fillet 42 is screwed across the front seam. The corner blocks 31 are of L-section. Specifications 556,453 and 687,165 [both in Group XIII], also are referred to.
