Abstract

340,943. Insulating buildings and ships' cabins from vibrations. HARRAP, E. R., Harefield Mills, Harefield, near Uxbridge, Middlesex. Oct. 2, 1929, No. 29898. [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv).] Sound and other vibrations are insulated in rooms of buildings and in cabins and saloons of ships by means of indiarubber connecting membera d, h of channel, tee, or angle section which are secured to the main structure and receive or hold the partitions, panelling or lining, or bearers for flooring. Fig. 1 shows the insulation of an engine room. The wood panelling g, backed with felted asbestos m, is secured in the rubber channel strips d, h, which are provided with air spaces e, i the upper strip h has the outer flange j separate, and in a modification the inner flange of both strips is omitted. Fig. 3 shows a partition wall formed of wooden panelling lined with felted asbestos m ; the lower strip d is double channelled, and the upper strip h has both outer flanges removable. Fig. 6 shows the floor bearers q resting in rubber channels p.
