Abstract

573,380. Building elements. PARKER, G. V. Aug. 18, 1943, No. 13455. [Class 87 (i)] A building element con. sists of a sheet 1 of cementitious material with L shaped projections 2 ex tending from top to botton of the sheet at each edge thereof and at one or more intermediate points. In building a wall, sheets are secured together edge to edge with the projections extending inwardly; they may be bolted together or keyed together by cement passing through holes provided in the edge projections. The spaces within the projections are filled in with concrete or cement or with sound and/or heat insulating material 15, and the flat faces 3 of the projections serve as supports for shuttering or lining board 16. One side edge of the sheet may be of box like or columnar form 5 to provide a side post for a door or window. A corner unit for a building comprises two such sheets at right angles with a column at the angle. The sheets may be of storey height, or smaller sheets may be provided for filling in the spaces above and below windows; or a window opening may be formed in a sheet. Inverted U-shaped elements with inturned flanges are described, Fig. 7 (not shown), for constructing floors and roofs for the building.
