683,567. Mounting vehicle windows. WINDSHIELDS OF WORCESTER, Ltd., and JONES, A. E. E. May 1, 1951 [Aug. 28, 1950], No. 21187/50. Class 20(iii) A vehicle windscreen or window panel 14 is resiliently mounted in a rubber channel 10 supported in a channelled metal frame 1 having one side 3 deeper than the other side 7 and attached directly to the vehicle body panel 6, with both sides of the channel 10 extending above the frame 1 and the edge of the panel so located in the channel 10 that it lies level with or substantially level with the edge of the deeper side 3 of the frame. The frame 1 has a flat interior seating surface 2 which is overhung by the lip 7 to form a semi-dovetail channel, and at the lower or inner side has spaced flanges 8 of inturned hook form which receive a curved flexible weather strip 9. The channel 10 is shaped to fit the base 2 and extends above the wall 3 being thickened at 10a and lipped at 11 above the wall 3, and shaped, e.g. with a groove 12, to overlie the lip 7. The glass receiving groove 13 of the channel 10 extends below the top of wall 3, and a slight clearance is left between the bases of the groove and the panel. The frame 1 is secured to the panel 6 by screws 5 passing through holes in the panel and engaging tapped holes 4 in the wall 3
