Abstract
609,665. Windows. BECKETT, LAYCOCK, & WATKINSON, Ltd., and CHAPPELLE, H. March 20, 1946, No. 8602. [Class 20(iii)] In a vehicle window of the type comprising -a glass panel in a fixed frame carried by a main frame and having the lower edge of the fixed frame supported from the bottom number of the main frame by spacing members which have openings therebetween communicating with the rear side of the fixed panel, so that condensation or other moisture may be drained from behind the fixed panel, the said openings are inclined with respect to the plane of the panel to ensure that moisture is not prevented from escaping by the wind of movement. The invention is particularly applicable to the vehicle window shown, which comprises a horizontal sliding panel 10, movable to and from a position behind a fixed panel 5 on runners 15 which engage the members 12 of the main frame 6. Water which may collect in channel 16 behind the fixed frame can escape via the drainage channels 18 between the members 17 which space the fixed frame 9 from the main frame 6. The channels 18 are inclined away from the direction of travel a for the purpose stated above.
