Abstract
683,158. Roller mills. MIAG VERTRIEBSGES. June 2, 1950 [June 3, 1949], No. 13796/50. Class 59 A gearing between the two rolls of roller mills is characterized in that it comprises an epicyclic gear of which one element is fixed to one of the rolls and the other two elements are coupled by any known drive transmission to two wheels fixed on the second roll so as to be driven at different speeds. Chain wheels 3, 4 secured on the shaft of a fast, driving, roll 1 respectively drive chain wheels 5, 6 journalled on the shaft of a slow, driven, roll 2. The wheel 5 carries planet wheels 9 which engage an external sun wheel 7 carried by the wheel 6 and an internal sun wheel 8 keyed to the shaft of the roll 2. By suitably choosing the wheels 3, 4, 5 and 6 any required ratio of roll speeds may be obtained. Infinitely variable gearing, e.g. wedge pulleys, may replace the chain wheels 3, 4, 5 and 6.
