Abstract

The planet wheels have different cross section according to the transmission ratio required. They are driven at the same speed, and are coupled to the output shaft via a further planet wheel turning at different speed. The second planet wheels are coaxial with the first set, but the two sets of wheels run in a different orbital path. The drive to the first set of wheels is achieved by a chain and the input and output shafts are on the same side of the bearing. The gear is enclosed in oil tight casing.
