833,227. Change-speed gearing. REINERS, W., and WIGGERMANN, G. March 8, 1956, No. 7288/56. Addition to 818,984. Drawings to Specification. Class 80 (2). In the variable speed gear of the parent Specification, the auxiliary gear between the input shaft and the intermediate shafts can be shifted non-positively during operation and provides two power-transmitting connections for at least one of the intermediate shafts, the relationship between the two connections corressponding to the differences between the speeds of the change speed gear. The intermediate shafts of the sliding wheel change speed gear of the parent Specification are driven through combinations of spur and/or epicyclic trains and friction clutches, the ratios being such that the non-power-transmitting intermediate shaft can be synchronized for the next higher or lower speed before engagement.
