682,448. Protecting exhaust-valve stems. SOC. D'ETUDES DE MACHINES THERMIQUES. May 10, 1949 [May 27, 1948], No. 12478/49. Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi). An insulating. air space 7 is provided between a screening member 6, e.g. of frusto-conical form, and a valve guide 3., the member being secured to a cylinder head 2' and a sleeve 8 closely surrounding a valve stem 4. The member may be connected to a removable valve seat 2 by spacer arms 5. In a modification, the air space is defined by the member and a sleeve mounted in the valve guide housing.
