682,095. Locking valves. CANNON IRON FOUNDRIES, Ltd., and OATLEY, G. A. Feb. 13, 1951 [Feb. 14, 1950], No. 3708/50. Class 135. A rotary conical plugcock having an inlet 11 and an axial outlet 15a has a pair of diametrically opposite balls 24 co-acting with holes 34 in a fixed plate 32 to give an audible click when the plug is moved into closed position and to offer an initial resistance to movement from the closed to the open position. The balls 24 are confined between two pairs of lugs 21a on a plate 21 slidably keyed to an actuating shaft 16 and are urged upwardly by a washer 20 between which and the plug is a compression spring. The lugs 21a also serve as niting pins, limiting the degree of rotation permitted the plug by co-acting with internal projections on a plate 26.
