Abstract

686,399. Valves. COCKBURNS, Ltd., RODGER, J., and GRANT, T. Feb. 26, 1951 [Feb. 24, 1950], No. 4799/50. Class 135. A rotary disc valve comprises a two-part casing 1, 2, Fig. 1, having oppositely disposed ported endplates 3, 4 between which is mounted on an axial spindle a valve plate 5 having ports, which may be aligned with the ports in the plates 3, 4, and peripheral teeth 7. The teeth engage a pinion 8 secured to a shaft 9 driven by an electric &c. motor. A switch 10 cuts out the motor when the valve reaches its fully open or fully closed position. A diametrically split ring 6 serves to space the flanges 11 of the casing parts. In a modification, the valve plate 5 is replaced by a pair of plates 5A, 5B, Fig. 4, urged apart by springs 18, the teeth 7 being formed on the plate 5A.
