Abstract

Upon energizing an electric motor 48 a valve 11, e.g. of the rotary spherical type, is rotated through a gear-reduction unit 44, a shaft 31 with a cam 34 thereon, an adaptor 36, and valve stem 12. When the valve arrives at the open or closed position one or other ends of the cam 34 actuates an associated limit switch 54, 55 to de-energize the motor 48, which in conjunction with a brake 49 stops the valve movement. The actuating mechanism is disposed in a housing 24, 38 with a removable cover 42, the whole being Supported from the pipes 15, 17 leading to the valve. The switches 54, 55 are mounted on an adjustable plate 51.
