Abstract

1,127,662. Valves. KINEMATICS Ltd. 2 May, 1967 [25 May, 1966], No. 23455/66. Heading F2V. A butterfly valve disc 2 (shown in orthogonal radial sections) has stub shafts (3), 4 and is provided with a one-piece resilient rubber sealing ring of which portions 14 are received in grooves in the periphery of the disc and portions 14<SP>1</SP> are received in annular grooves defined in enlargements (17), 18 of the disc to surround the stub shafts. Portions 14 are retained by plates 15 and portions 14<SP>1</SP> bear against discs 13 which in turn bear against bronze oil - impregnated sleeve bearings 6. The outer end of shaft 4 defines one half of a dog clutch. In modifications, a single continuous shaft replaces the stub shaft, the portions 14 are retained in, e.g. dovetail, grooves machined in the disc, the sealing ring is of trapezoidal section, the disc is replaced by a rectangular closure plate and the sealing ring is bonded in position. Discs 13 can be replaced by cast bosses on the valve body.
