Abstract

1440314 Valves UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 3 Sept 1973 [12 Sept 1972] 42288/72 Heading F2V In a butterfly valve the closure disc 2, which is rotatable about axis A-A, engages a rectangular-sectioned sealing ring 6 in the closed position, the ring 6 having an inner peripheral surface 19 angled normal to the lines B-B taken from the centre of the pipe line coinciding with the axis A-A to the central periphery of the disc. The rubber ring 6 is provided with tapered wedges which snap into notches 17 of the complementary groove 16. Boss 4 in the pipe and cap 3 on the actuating shaft 5 limit rotation of the disc to 90 degrees.
