681,545. Reciprocating pumps. CONCENTRIC MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and BURKE, H. Jan. 12, 1950 [Jan. 12, 1949], No. 807/49. Class 102 (i). In a reciprocating pump for feeding a determined quantity of material from bulk into a container, a crank 19, driven through gearing 11 and a manually-actuated coupling 13, is connected through rods 20, 21 and a coupling 23 to the pump piston. The coupling 23 comprises a lever 28a connected to the rod 20 and having a boss 30 that fits within the boss 31 of a lever 29 connected to the rod 21. The levers 28a and 29 are loaded by a torsion spring 35 to maintain an abutment 39 on boss 31 in contact with an abutment 38 on boss 30. Normally the levers 28a, 29 transmit movement of the crank 19 to the piston but the stroke of the piston may be varied by limiting the movement of the lever 29 by a cam 41 actuated by a knob 43; a frictional holding device 44 may be associated with the cam 41. The pump may have a rotary valve as described in Specification 588,785. The pump may be combined with a pastry moulding machine as described in Specification 681,544, [Group XXIV]. Two pumps may be arranged side by side in a single casing.
