Abstract

Dough type materials are metered using a cylinder in which is a piston. The cylinder is bored at right angles to the axis of a cylindrical block which is able to rotate about its axis through an angle. The block is mounted in a housing at the base of a conical hopper for the dough. The piston is pulled down by an external cam mechanism having a fork which couples onto rods on the end of the piston. A charge of dough is taken and the block is partly rotated. The piston is pushed up to compress the dough which is now trapped. Further rotation brings the end of the cylinder opposite the outlet port and the dough is expelled by the piston, now actuated by a second reciprocating actuator mechanism. Used for forming soup noodles from dough. Has high operating rate, good compression of the metered amts. to give uniform weight to each, avoids excessive wear on moving parts, gives simple and easily mfd. components. easy to install with safe and durable operation, provides economic advantages.
